This artwork participated in the Sayeda Zainab Art competition in 2013. While it did not win first prize, it hold significant meaning to the artist as it was one of the first big paitings she created for the cause of the Ahlulbayt (a.s).
”This painting aims to epitomise the concept of justice that is inspired through the story of Sayeda Zainab (A.S) and her brother Imam Hussein (A.S). Upon the sandy dunes of Karbala, the masses migrate to the holy shrine of Sayeda Zainab in remembrance of the injustice that fell upon her. Without discrimination, the young and the old, the poor and the rich, men and women are all invited under the banner of justice. The fight against oppression is a lengthy and difficult path, which is reflected in the hot sands of the desert and the painful red skies. Sayeda Zainab stands watching all those who are standing firm in the face of injustice. These people provide her hope that justice will prevail and are the flame that keeps her candle bright. The dome of Sayeda Zainab is the source of courage for those standing against tyranny. It is their reminder that 1000’s of years ago, a woman defied a tyrant and stood against oppression for the sake of justice. It is their strength when all hope fades. I have chosen to create this piece as I believe the story of Karbala has been reflected throughout modern history. The ongoing oppression that shia’s have been facing in various countries has encouraged me to draw this piece. I wanted to make it clear that despite the oppression, we will persist on the path of Ahlulbayt as they have inspired justice and morality at all levels possible”.
