Zainab Kazaz is a painter and freelance children’s book illustrator, specialising in concepts about the religion of Islam and its role models, the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s).
As a former Psychology Master’s graduate, Zainab has spent many hours learning about emotional psychology and its impact on a person’s behaviour. Despite deciding to choose a career in Art instead of Psychology, in 2018, she was still able to use her insights from her degree onto a blank canvas. She is known for her use of emotive, vibrant colours; be it the gold of the shrines of the Imams, or the red of the fire from the burning of the tents in Karbala.
Zainab’s main aim is to convey the emotions portrayed by the Shia lovers of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w) and his progeny, through her paintings.
Her work is meant to inspire Muslims to reflect on their religion, and on themselves, through the examples of the pious and humble characters from islamic history.
Zainab now maintains a full-time art studio from her home. In between painting, Zainab spends time researching more about the Prophet’s and the Imam’s life, listening to lectures, and drawing inspiration from that knowledge. She also uses some of her free time to improve her business, art and islamic calligraphy skills, from online classes.
She has found an incredibly interactive art-collecting community on Instagram and uses that platform as her primary location for studio updates and shop news.
